For over two decades, telecom operators as well as oil and gas companies have used the Ormat hybrid power systems to increase system reliability at remote equipment sites along pipelines and communications networks. Hybrid systems combine high reliability fuel-operated OECs with fuel-free photovoltaic or wind generators. These hybrid systems offer an increased reliability and reduce initial cost, while preserving the benefits of using renewable energy resources as the primary energy sources to reduce fuel consumption and its transportation.

Combining the renewable systems with the OECs provides the system full stability and smooth operation regardless of unpredictable atmospheric or environmental conditions.
