The Steamboat complex, located in Washoe County, Nevada, consists of the Steamboat 1A project, the Steamboat 2/3 project, the Burdette project, the Steamboat Hills project, the Galena 2 project and the Galena 3 project.
The complex is comprised of 7 power plants with a combined generating capacity of 89 MW. The Steamboat 1A, Steamboat 2/3, Burdette, Steamboat Hills, and Galena 2 and 3 projects sell their electrical output to Sierra Pacific Power Company under separate long-term power purchase agreements. Except for Steamboat Hills, which utilizes a single flash system, all of the projects in the Steamboat complex utilize a binary system.
The Ormat Steamboat complex provides the citizens of Reno, Nevada the main source of base load power.
