Casa Diablo 4 is ON and operating!

30MW CD4 geothermal project, part of Mammoth complex in California, commences commercial operation

We are proud and excited to announce the commercial operation of our newest geothermal power plant – Casa Diablo 4 (CD4)!

We have worked in extreme conditions, through fire season, snow storms and Supply chain issues, and still were able to deliver a state-of-the-art geothermal power plant that produces 30 MW of clean, renewable electricity for 22,000 homes, offsetting 160,000 tons of CO2 emissions, Employing locally and generating local tax revenues.

CD4 is a state-of-the-art, air-cooled binary facility that provides stable and reliable renewable benefits twenty-four hours a day, with zero carbon emissions.  The Geothermal Facility Will Utilize Ormat’s Binary Technology to Further Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Decarbonize the California Power Grid. CD4 is the first geothermal power plant built within the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) balancing authority in the last 30 years and will be the first in Ormat’s portfolio to sell its output to Community Choice Aggregators. (Silicon Valley Clean Energy & Central Coast Community Energy).
