Geothermal Rising Conference 2022
Our summary for the GRC2022 event in Reno
It was a busy week at the Geothermal Rising Conference (GRC) in Reno. Ormat was excited to be a Diamond Sponsor at this year’s GRC, the largest attendance since 2012. With Corporate Headquarters less than 3 miles away from the Peppermill Casino, Ormat had over 50 conference attendees across the 4-day conference.
Throughout the conference, Ormat hosted 10 facility tours of our Steamboat Geothermal Power Plant Complex in South Reno, totaling over 70 people and 23 different companies. This was a great opportunity to showcases the unique geology of the complex, as well as the binary system at our 2020 Steamboat Hills Plant.
On Monday, August 29th, Shimon Hatzir, led the Conference with Opening remarks at the Opening Plenary Session to kick off the 2022 GRC.

From there, Ormat’s booth remained busy with foot traffic while having three speakers throughout the conference:
- Paul Thomsen- The Increasing Value of Geothermal in the Western US – Recent Trends during the Accelerating Energy Transformation and Stresses on Reliability
- Nadav Korn and Ben Cohen- Introducing Ormat’s Between-Bearings Turbine
- Simon Webbison- Ormat’s Global Growth Story
On Tuesday, Ormat hosted a User’s meeting at the Reno Corporate office with over 30 clients, prospects, Ormat and consultants.
Lastly, on Wednesday (8/31) we held a Resource Event at the Renaissance Hotel with over 150 attendees. Overall, we shared industry excitement and will continue to educate the public and scale to meet the grid’s future clean energy demands. Thanks for another successful conference!
