The 44th New Zealand Geothermal Workshop
The New Zealand Geothermal industry is growing
The 44th New Zealand Geothermal workshop in Auckland was important and we were proud to sponsor and participate in the event.
Ormat had a team of 6 at the event and presented a keynote presentation at the conference, by Robin Zuza about our growth story.
Simon Webbison, Ormat VP of exploration and resource, summarized his experiance from the event:
"It's pleasing to see the New Zealand electricity market growing again. After the GFC we saw electricity demand stop growing, but now it's picking up again and all the companies are focusing again on growth.
Having a carbon price, which is now $88 NZD (quoted at the conference) is resulting in companies focusing in on how they can reinject their gases. We're seeing the value of binary plants for this, as evidenced by the gas reinjection trials at Ngatamariki and Te Huka that were shared. At Ormat we're lucky that many of our developments are able to use our Ormat Production Pumps, so all the gas is kept in the fluid and so these plants are zero emissions already."
It was great meeting all of our dear customers and partners, at the event. You could feel a scent of mutual mission in the air.
