Project Pipeline

Ormat has over 300 MW of shovel-ready geothermal projects in our project pipeline. These 95% availability, zero carbon emitting projects are the perfect fit for the California Public Utility Commission’s recent 1,000 MW mid-term reliability procurement requirement of 80% capacity, non-weather dependent clean energy generation. With several successful contracts already signed with Community Choice Aggregators in California, we’re excited to continue partnering with some of California’s most progressive clean energy procurement organizations over the next decade.

SOLICITATIONS

Closed Request for Bids

Ormat Nevada is soliciting bids for the purchase of capacity and energy generation from its repowered 26 MW Heber 2 Geothermal project located in Heber, California.

Heber 2 is a water-cooled, binary geothermal facility that has been in operation since 1993 and is currently undergoing a repowering project with a COD of January 1, 2023.

The repowering project will include a complete replacement of the Ormat Energy Converter units and will increase the capacity of the project from 12 to 26 MW without increasing the project's footprint. The project will also retain its existing onsite connection and transmission rights within the CAISO grid. Ormat retains ownership of the project, which it self-financed.

The project will be sold under the special purpose entity OrHeber 2 LLC and is a PCC1 REC eligible facility with a 95 percent capacity factor. The buyer will receive all available environmental attributes and capacity rights associated with the facility and energy output as a bundled product.
